According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, just before 9:30 this morning Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High/Middle School staff notified the Special Patrol Officer assigned to their campus of a suspected weapon located in the High/Middle School parking lot.

VVS High/Middle School was placed in a hold-in-place while members of Patrol and the Juvenile Aid Unit responded to investigate.

An item was subsequently located and secured from the parking lot without incident. No students or staff members on campus were in danger at any time. The incident remains under investigation with more information to come.
