A Waterville man was arrested for violating a stay away order of protection, stemming from a welfare check complaint.

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, on 4/4/25 at around 02:30PM, Deputies responded to an address on Stafford Ave in the Village of Waterville, following a report of a male acting erratically. Subsequent to the investigation, it was determined that Gregory Getman, age 44 of Waterville, had engaged in communication with the victim/protected party, thus violating said order of protection. Getman was located at his residence but refused to come outside. Crisis negotiators attempted to speak with Getman while Deputies applied for an arrest warrant. After the warrant was signed, Getman surrendered without further incident. Getman was charged with one count of Criminal Contempt 2nd (Class A Misdemeanor).

Getman was transported to the Law Enforcement Building and processed on the charge and is scheduled to be arraigned later today.

Sheriff's Deputies were assisted on scene by members of the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit and the New York State Police.
