According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, a Clinton man was arrested following the report of multiple order of protection violations.
On September 5th, 2025, the Domestic Violence Unit was notified by the Oneida County District Attorney's Office that David J. Murphy, 36, had violated an active stay away order of protection that was issued after a previous domestic incident. It was alleged that Murphy had placed over a hundred phone calls to the protected party from the Oneida County Jail, where he was being held on other charges.
After an investigation into the matter, it was confirmed that there were over 150 phone calls made, in direct violation of the active order of protection. Murphy was charged with Criminal Contempt 2nd, class A misdemeanor, for several of the calls, as well as, a count of Aggravated Family Offense, class E Felony.
Murphy was arrested and processed on these charges. At that time, Murphy was instructed to cease the contact or it could result in further charges. Murphy was returned to the Oneida County Jail to await arraignment on the new charges. Minutes after the arrest, Murphy called the protected party once again. Murphy was then charged with another count of Criminal Contempt 2nd and Aggravated Family Offense.
