On this National First Responders Day, a day where we honor the selfless service of those who risk their lives serving and protecting our communities, Assemblywoman MaryAnn Buttenschon held a ceremony recognizing several of Oneida County’s First Responders. The event was held at the State Office Building on Genesee Street in the City of Utica. Specifically, from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, three members were honored by the Assemblywoman. Investigator Renee DeLong was recognized for her dedication and commitment to her work in the Domestic Violence Unit ensuring that everything is being done to always protect the survivors of domestic violence while at the same time, holding the offenders accountable. Correction Officer Bradley Chapman was recognized for administering NarCan to a co-worker who was found unresponsive inside the Correctional Facility. Officer Scott Eisenhart, while assigned to the Civil Division conducting official business, was recognized for performing CPR and administering NarCan to an individual that was found unconscious on the side of the roadway. In addition to the individual awards given out at today’s ceremony, each agency including the Sheriff’s Office, was presented with a NYS Assembly Proclamation recognizing today at First Responders Day in New York State. Congratulations to all of the law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, Corrections, and NYS Parole members that were honored today – thank you for your service! Thank you also to Bill Cole from Gates-Cole Insurance for co-sponsoring today’s event with Assemblywoman Buttenschon.
