According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, an inmate at the Oneida County Correctional Facility has been arrested and charged after a cell search.

On January 6, 2026, Road Patrol Deputies responded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility for a Contraband Complaint. It was reported that Corrections Officers assigned to the Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T) were activated to conduct a search of a portion of the Correctional Facility. As a result of the search a sharpened plastic spork utensil was located in a cell belonging to inmate Jhader Augusto Uribe-Tobar, age 37. The case was then turned over to a member of the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit.

On January 21, 2026, Uribe-Tobar was brought over to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement building and charged with one count of Promoting Prison Contraband, in the First Degree, a Class D Felony. Uribe-Tobar was then turned back over to Corrections Staff to await proceedings in CAP Court at a later time.
