According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Kirkland man has been arrested following a Check the Welfare call to the Oneida County Emergency Services 911 Center.
On March 1, 2026, at around 8:30AM, Road Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a check the welfare of an individual operating a side by side (UTV) in the Town of Westmoreland. It was reported that the individual was acting odd and possibly under the influence. Subsequent to the 911 call, Road Patrol Deputies located the individual operating a John Deere Gator UTV, on Fairway Drive in the Town of Westmoreland. A traffic stop was then initiated and an investigation into the individual's welfare was commenced. The individual was identified as David Annatone, age 43, of Kirkland. An investigation showed that Annatone was not under the influence, however, the operation of the UTV on the roadway was found to not be in compliance with the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Due to the UTV not being legal to operate on the roadway the UTV was going to be towed from the scene. Prior to the UTV being towed Deputies conducted an inventory search of the UTV. Subsequent to the search two switchblade knives were located and Annatone was taken into custody.
Annatone was then brought to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement building where a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit charged him with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony. Annatone was then taken over to the Oneida County Correctional Facility where he was held for CAP Court later that evening. Annatone was seen in CAP Court and released on his own recognizance.
