According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Utica man has been arrested after police were dispatched to a trespass complaint near the county jail.

On May 5th, 2026, at about 3:30 PM, Sheriff's deputies and Town of Whitestown Police received a call regarding a trespass complaint located at an address on Judd Road in the Town of Whitestown. The Town of Whitestown Police Department located the male and detained him.

Through investigation, it was determined that the suspect, Thaw Eh Htoo, age 35, of Utica, had been released from the Oneida County Correctional Facility and while making his way to Utica, Htoo crawled through a window of an abandoned home on Judd Road, which is now owned by Oneida County, and stole property.

The case was then turned over to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit due to it being a felony level offense.

Htoo was arrested for Burglary 3rd, (D felony) and Petit Larceny (A misdemeanor). Htoo was transported to the Law Enforcement Building where he was booked and processed. Htoo was brought back to the Oneida County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at CAP Court where he was untimely released on his own recognizance. Htoo is to return to the Town Whitestown Court at a later date.
