According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol an inmate has been arrested following a fight in the Oneida County Correctional Facility.

On May 31, 2026, Road Patrol Deputies responded to the Correctional Facility for a fight involving two inmates. It was reported that there was possibly a jail house made weapon involved as well. Searches were conducted within the Correctional Facility, by Corrections staff, and a weapon was not found or recovered. The victim sustained several small abrasions to his head and was provided further medical treatment by medical staff within the Correctional Facility. Due to the nature of the incident the case was then turned over to a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit.

On June 16, 2026, as a result of the investigation Jamare Blanco, age 22 of Utica, was brought over to the Kurt B Wyman Law Enforcement building and charged with one count of Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, a class E Felony. Blanco was then turned back over to jail staff to await arraignment in CAP Court. Blanco was being held in the Correctional Facility on a Patole Violation stemming from charges out of the City of Utica.
