Village of Sylvan Beach- According to Sheriff Robert M. Maciol; On Wednesday July 8, 2026, at approximately 1305 hours, the Oneida County Sheriff Marine Patrol Unit responded to a reported boat accident on Oneida Lake, for a boat that had struck the breakwater wall entering the Erie Canal and was hard aground. Upon completion of the investigation, it was determined that Katie Carbonrie age-45 from Selden NY, had rented a Cove Boat from Sylvan Beach (Cove). Katie was operating in a southerly direction when, failed to abide by the exclusionary Bouy’s for entering the Erie Canal and ran aground on the breakwater wall causing damages to the rented vessel.

It was found that the four people aboard the Cove Boat had no injuries.

The Oneida County Marine Patrol Unit was assisted on scene by Triple T Towing and Recovery.
