According to the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a…
According to the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a City of Rome man was injured in a car/ motorcycle collision on Thomas Rd in the Town of Lee. On July 22nd, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Road Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a car-motorcycle accident at the intersection of Thomas Road and Link Road in the Town of Lee. Deputies determined that a 2006 Kawasaki Motorcycle being operated by Connor Swinney (Age 19), of Rome, NY, was traveling in an Easterly direction on Thomas Rd in the Town of Lee. A 2010 Chevy Impala being operated by Robert Switzer (Age 49) of Camden, NY, was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Link Road off of Sleepy Hollow Rd, where the motorcycle struck the sedan's passenger side.
Swinney sustained injuries following the collision and was airlifted to Upstate Hospital by Lifenet Helicopter with what was reported as serious injuries. Switzer reported no injuries in the collision. Swinney's injuries do not appear to be life threatening at this time.
Switzer was issued traffic citations as a result of the collision returnable to Court at a later date.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by AMCARE Ambulance, the Lee Center Vol. Fire Department, the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit, the Sheriff's Office Forensic Identification Unit, the New York State Police, and Lifenet Helicopter.
