According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, an 11 year old Juvenile sustained minor injuries following a car/ pedestrian motor vehicle accident in the Village of Camden.
On July 23rd, 2026, at around 3:05 p.m., Road Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Main St and Church St in the Village of Camden for a report of a car-pedestrian motor vehicle accident with injuries. Following an investigation, Road Patrol Deputies determined that an 11 year old juvenile female of Camden, NY, was operating a 200 Watt Gotrax electric scooter in a northerly direction on the sidewalk of Main St in the Village of Camden. A 2026 Chevy Silverado towing a 25 foot flatbed trailer being operated by Randall Harmon (Age 44) of Sherburne, NY, had made a right hand turn onto Church Street off of Main Street. While entering the crosswalk on the electric scooter, the juvenile did not yield the right of way to the truck and trailer, and struck the rear of the trailer. The juvenile sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and was transported by private vehicle to Oneida Hospital for an evaluation. No citations were issued and the juvenile's failure to yield the right of way to the vehicle appears to be the sole cause of the collision. The name of the juvenile will not be released.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Police, Camden Ambulance, the Camden Vol. Fire Department, and bystanders on scene.
