According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, a City of Rome man was arrested after a domestic incident.

On July 24, 2026, Road Patrol Deputies responded to a residence in the outer district of Rome for a reported domestic in progress. Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit were contacted and assigned. In accordance with NYS CPL, a search was conducted at the residence due to reported firearms. During the search, several firearms were located. Due to an active order of protection, the suspect was not legally allowed to possess any firearm. Furthermore, two of the located firearms were handguns, for which the suspect did not possess a permit to have. All firearms were seized during the investigation.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Jacob S. Lutz, age 31, was arrested for:

Aggravated Family Offense, class E felonyCriminal Contempt 2nd, a class A misdemeanorCriminal Mischief 4th, a class A misdemeanorCriminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, a class C felonyCriminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, a class D felonyEndangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor

Lutz was subsequently processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building and held at Oneida County Jail for arraignment.
